This is one of the handiest little freewares around. Xenu checks your site for broken links and <img> SRCs. It checks both internal and external links either on your server or local drive. It even checks <img> SRCs for missing images. Finally, it will list "orphan" files. That is, files that have no links to them. This is great for finding out what files to delete on your server.

Search Engine Buddy analyzes your <meta> tags against the actual content of your page(s) and produces very important reports. It tells you if you have too many or too few keywords in your page's body relative to your <meta> tags. Following Search Engine Buddy's advice will help you adjust your keyword density for better search engine rankings.

Search Engine Buddy can be modified to mimic different search engine spiders or set to "generic" mode. It can analyze pages on your hard drive on on a server. It can also analyze your body and help you design your <meta> tags. Excellent tool.

This is the best freeware server log analyzer out there. It will analyze logs on your server or your hard drive. I recommend downloading your raw logs to your hard drive. WebLog Expert Lite will analyze the raw data and organize it into easily readable tables and graphs. Find out where your viewers are coming from and how busy your site is. Great tool. There's nothing "Lite" about it.

This freeware lets you enter your site and see how many other sites link to you in various search engines. The number and quality of the sites linking to yours is very important to all search engines, especially Google.

This is the coolest freeware out there. It's by Silverage and does a ton of useful things:

Image Mapper. HandyTools has a very capable and easy to use image mapper. Makes cutting up those big images into a menu of links easy.

Universal Find and Replace. An essential tool for site updating. Say you need to update a link's URL over 100 pages. Yuk! Universal Find and Replace can find and change the links in any number of pages automatically.

Color Spy. Just open Color Spy, hover your mouse over anything and it will give you the hex code for the color you're hovering over. Great for making page backgrounds match an image background.

GIF Color Mapper. Change GIF colors easily.

Gradientx. A neat text effect tool that will gradually change the color of text from one color to another over the length of the string. Gives your text a sort of "rainbow" effect.

Silverage's main page gives details of all of the above functions. You can download only the tools you want, or get the whole sheebang by downloading the "Power Tool" at the bottom of the page. All downloads are under 500 KB, and the price is right -- absolutely free!

This is one of the most comprehensive and easiest to use HTML validators I've seen. And, it's free! Just load your pages in this program and it will check for HTML coding errors. I found a stray ">" on my <Code_Punk> templates. CSE HTML Validator Lite even comes with its own code editor so you can make and save corrections right in the program.
